What is my project?
My project is a 5-minute video tentatively titled “The Kid and Kalamazoo”. My idea has stemmed from studying Charlie Chaplin. I want to do a short film in the style of Chaplin, in black and white, but also blend it with color and a modern twist.
What was my plan for this week?
The plan for this week was to brainstorm what concepts I could utilize for the project and to do some scriptwriting. I was able to attain the costume for the main character, including a nice bowler cap, make-up, and unearth a suit from my wardrobe that will fit. Portraits were taken to see if I would look the part, which I felt was successful. I wasn’t able to start scriptwriting because I’m still trying to figure out a story but I will be focusing on it this week.
What was I able to accomplish?
Despite not being able to write any of the script, I was able to get some portrait work done. I was also able to secure some new equipment, like an ipad and a remote control for my dslr. A recent assignment was able to teach me a concept that will help me with my “stop-motion” concept I will need with shooting. The remote control will allow me to capture the choppy effect often seen in classic film.
This week's plan?
This week was dedicated to storyboarding and securing staff, so I can focus on that and include getting script work done. Considering I was able to get some of the principle photography done, I’ll free up some time to write and draw up some ideas.
